Lunenburg PTO

Supporting the cooperative link between parents, teachers and students

About the PTO

Mission Statement

The objective of the Lunenburg Parent Teacher Organization is to foster and encourage the cooperative link between parents, teachers and students by promoting an environment in which the home-school partnership can be nurtured.

Who We Are and What We Do

The Lunenburg PTO is a system-wide organization comprised of Parents, Teachers, Administrators and Community members committed to promoting the "best" educational experience for our children in the Lunenburg Public Schools.

PTO meetings are held once a month, and they are informative and interesting. Each meeting has administrators and other guest speakers that highlight their school programs. We also have representatives from each school and from the School Committee attend the meetings to keep everyone informed with any news and information from the respective schools and committees.

Last year...

In the 2010-2011 school year, the Lunenburg PTO focused on fundraising and voted to appropriate funds in the following ways:

-  Discretionary funds to the principals of each school

-  At the Primary School:  Kindergarten and Grade 2 libraries; walkie-talkies and velcro to support the Achieve classrooms

-  At the Elementary School:  Grade 4 dictionaries and Grade 3's community learning project, Haiti Bowls

-  At the Middle School:  Document cameras for Grade 7 and audio equipment for the library.

-  At the High School:  Audio equipment for the Foreign Languages Department

-  A scholarship awarded to a graduating LHS senior

It's time for a change!

-  This year the PTO will focus on providing direct classroom support to the teachers.

-  The PTO will sponsor a grade-level representative for every grade, K through 12.  These reps will work with teachers to develop Request Lists, which will be communicated to the PTO and the parent community.

-  Many hands make light work!  This year we'll maximize short-commitment opportunities that allow busy parents to get involved.

-  Fundraising efforts will be limited, meaning your membership dues are more important than ever!  We'll use these funds to support the PTO scholarship and continue to provide discretionary funds to each school.

Thank you for your support of the Lunenburg PTO!
