Lunenburg Giftmart

Dear Community Member,

The Lunenburg Giftmart was created in 2009 because of a need in our own community. Due to a lagging economy we all find ourselves facing choices on where our money will go. However, there are some families who have no resources for traditions such as gift giving. Through the generosity of our community we have been able to offer a way for families in need to “shop” for free.

The PTO sponsored Giftmart has been able to help 50+ families each year and we hope to help even more this year. It has been our experience that the families visiting Giftmart have hit a rough patch due to job loss or illness and are grateful and overwhelmed by the help of strangers.

**We are asking the families and students of TCP to donate new, unwrapped toys. Giftmart drop off boxes will be located at the school.

**We are asking the families and students of Primary School to donate new, unwrapped hats and mittens for all ages. Giftmart drop off boxes will be located at the school.

**We are asking the families and students of THMS to donate non-perishable food, and toiletries. Giftmart drop off boxes will be located at the school. Note – include Lions Club in THMS letter.

**We are asking the LHS Community Service Club to donate pajamas for kids of all ages. Giftmart drop off boxes will be located at the school.

**We are asking the LHS Student Government to donate toys for kids of all ages. Giftmart drop off boxes will be located at the school.

Monetary donations can be made out to Lunenburg PTO, and mailed to Lunenburg PTO Attn:Giftmart and mailed to 1025 Massachusetts Avenue, Lunenburg, MA 01462. If you have any questions about Giftmart, please contact Holly Johansson at 978-582-6075, Further information will be available in the Lunenburg Ledger in the upcoming weeks.

Sincerely,
The Giftmart Committee

No Town Fair

Lunenburg Friends:

The Lunenburg PTO wanted to officially announce there will not be a Town Fair this fall.  Town Fair had become a wonderful tradition here - bringing our community together for a fun-filled family day.  This saddens many of us on the PTO greatly and we hope to perhaps make it happen in the spring or next fall with some additional planning and support.  While the PTO "sponsored" Town Fair for nearly 10 years, it was really a very small core group (some PTO members and not-members as well) that took on the massive amount of preparation and planning it took to put on the event.  Just about all of that core group has moved on - their kids grown up, gone off to college, etc.  Last spring our PTO realized we just did not have the manpower or hours to execute this on our own.  We did reach out to other groups/organizations in Lunenburg asking if any of them were interested in running Town Fair.  One group was interested and wanted to move forward with it, which thrilled us.  However, later this summer they decided to focus their efforts in other directions.  Town Fair is a great community event and at future PTO meetings we will discuss how this event could possibly happen at another time.  A group/organization or team of people willing to partner with the PTO would be a great first step.  If any organization or group of residents is interested in managing/running a future Town Fair, feel free to contact Wendy Bertrand at lizandamandasmom@hotmail.com. We really would like to see this tradition live on.  Thank you.
