School Advisory Councils

The Lunenburg Primary School, Turkey Hill Elementary School and Middle-High School Advisory Councils are representative, school-based committees composed of principals, parents, teachers, and community members. School Councils were established by the Massachusetts Education Reform Act to improve and provide support for public schools. The School Councils act under the supervision of the Lunenburg School Committee.

The School Council is charged with planning, goal setting, and budgeting for improvements. Specific responsibilities include:

  • adopting educational goals for the schools that are consistent with local educational policies and statewide student performance standards
  • identifying the educational needs of students attending the schools
  • formulating school improvement plans. The SIP is updated every year to manage continuous improvement in the Lunenburg school district.

Meetings are public and all interested members of the Lunenburg community may attend. We welcome visiting members of the school and community who would like to bring their issues/suggestions to the attention of the council.
